The Honourable Company of Air Pilots incorporating Air Navigators

Air Pilots Luncheon Club

The Air Pilots Luncheon Club was formed in 2000 (as the GAPAN Luncheon Club) out of some post Committee talk in a wine bar adjacent to the Company's former headquarters in Gray’s Inn Road.

The objectives of the Club are to provide:

  • Members with a chance to meet others at a Comapny function in an informal atmosphere.
  • A lunchtime activity at minimal cost.
  • An opportunity to hear interesting talks from some of the most distinguished men and women in aviation.
  • An opportunity for members to invite guests to see the working of the Company.

The Luncheon Club first met on 9 February 2000 at the Royal Air Force Club. The RAF Club was chosen as the venue due to its close links with the Air Pilots and its aviation connections. It is the intention to hold the luncheons there for the foreseeable future.

Three meetings a year are planned, each usually on a Wednesday; firstly in February, secondly in late April or early May on the same day as the Cobham Presentation and, finally, on the day of the Sir Frederick Tymms Lecture (late September). This cuts down on the number of journeys that have to be made to London to attend Company functions.

A guest speaker is invited, normally from within the Air Pilots membership, to talk on a subject of his choice.
