Call for Nominations

Company CrestThe Honourable Company of Air Pilots presents aviation industry awards each year to mark achievement and excellence within the industry.  These prestigious awards are presented in Guildhall, London (often) by a member of the Royal Family or The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor and in the presence of around 700 individuals involved in aviation.

A copy of the terms of reference for each award can be found in the download block below.  You will see that they cover a broad spectrum of achievement within the ‘industry’ worldwide, from individual to corporate, both civil and military.

The awards are important and distinctive because they recognise achievement which may otherwise not fit the criteria for a national award (honours list etc) and therefore remain unrecognised by the industry and public alike.

The vital requirement for timely, sincere and well-drafted citations in support of nominations for the awards cannot be over-emphasised and the Company depends entirely on receiving such nominations in order to judge and justify the presentation of each particular award to the most deserving recipient.  In order to maintain the high standards which have been established, awards are only presented each year if a sufficient standard of merit can be established by the citation.

Nominations for the current year should take the form of a written citation of around 500 words and should be submitted to the Company office via office@airpilots.org by 31 May 2024.  Please contact the office on 020 7404 4032 if you require further information.

Nominations originating from Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and North America/Canada should be sent through the regional administrations.  For Australia - please use awards@airpilots.org.au, for New Zealand please use admin-nz@airpilots.org, for Hong Kong use (to be confirmed) and for North America (due by 10 May) please use admin-na@airpilots.org

Please note: there are no forms on which to submit these nominations.  Nominations should be submitted electronically in Word or pdf format.  A copy of the Awards Citations Booklet 2023 can be found below which will give an indication of the format used.

These awards serve a useful and high-profile public relations purpose to the benefit of all in aviation.  They help to maintain the deservedly high esteem in which aviation as an industry and profession is held by the public at large.  I ask that you help the Air Pilots to fulfil that aim.

The Company also awards Master Air Pilot, Master Air Navigator and Master Rearcrew Certificates throughout the year in recognition of long and distinguished professional aircrew achievement.  These can be applied for at any time on the application forms available at the blue link above.
